My husband (who, by the way is my BIGGEST cheerleader) gave me the book “The War of Art – Break Through the Blocks and Win Your Inner Creative Battles” to read. He seems to think I need to be more confident (said with just a hint of self sarcasm) and thought this might be helpful.
The book is about Resistance- the inner critic that keeps us from doing what we were called to do, “Most of us have two lives. The life we live, and the unlived life within us. Between the two stands Resistance.” Resistance is that inner critic, that distraction, that doubt….whatever keeps us from doing what we have BEEN MADE to do. The book is broken down into little “thoughts”, so it’s incredibly easy to read. Yesterday I read this:
Resistance has no strength of its own. Every ounce of juice it possesses comes from us. We feed it with power by our fear of it. Master that fear and we conquer Resistance.
I’m taking part in the Index Card a Day adventure over at Daisy Yellow (a very easy way to insert a bit of creativity into your day!!) and this is what came from that bit of text above:
Pushing against Resistance makes us stronger. Pushing against Resistance makes us grow and stretch…both of which can be painful, uncomfortable and scary…but oh, so necessary.
I read this verse today during my Morning Pages:
Job 22:22 (The Message)
Let HIM tell you what to do; take HIS Words to heart.
I have everything I need.
I love this poem by Shel Silverstein
Listen. He’s waiting to talk TO YOU.

I love the book your husband offered you. It’s like hitting the wall, but if you keep pushing through, it seems to affect every aspect in life. Thank you for sharing the book. I will look it up!
